Piano Lessons

My main goal is to help a student reach musical literacy, technical fluency, understanding of theory, form and analysis, ear training, and musicianship. I strive to strengthen a student's enthusiasm, resiliency, curiosity, understanding, problem solving skills, good practice habits, and techniques as we explore them.

Lessons are tailored specifically to the student and focus on developing musicianship through a practical and classical approach to music. A practical approach will quickly help them familiarize with the instrument and its basic most popular techniques. Meanwhile, a classical approach to music will: facilitate the learning process through music literacy, establish good practice habits, create a more refined technique, and develop a more focused goal-oriented practice.

Lessons are offered in person. English or Spanish. Students ages six and up with or without experience are welcome. We recommend starting from 30 minute lessons once a week for young beginner students. Adult beginners, intermediate, and advanced students are encouraged to have 45 to 60 minute lessons.

Insight

Since I was a child I fell in love with the piano. It was the first instrument I ever played. I grew up playing piano on the weekends and taught myself until middle school using my father's old method books. Soon after, I began piano classes in high school and continued up to college while doing my bachelors degree in music at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). During that time I had the great pleasure of taking classes for with Argentinian pianist Dr. Oscar Macchioni, who really strengthened my love for the instrument (currently Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy at The University of North Texas College of Music).

Piano is the instrument of instruments. A composer's sidekick. It is very important for all musicians to understand it and know how to play it. The piano is a perfect gateway into the world of music. Learn proper posture, technique, note reading, music theory, scales, playing with both hands, hands alone, rhythm, chords, dynamics, practice methods, articulations, performance tips, and more.
